No the Swirl is not a filter, as such it does not purify water. It aerates and structures water. We recommend using the Swirl with water that has already been filtered.

Although the Swirl does not filter water, if you choose to use tap water in your Swirl without prior treatment, the aeration will allow volatile compouds such as chlorine to be released into the atmosphere much more quickly than standing water. As such, tap water will taste a lot better, and the vortexing will soften the texture, making it much smoother and tastier.

By all means! Wine is particularly well aerated with the Swirl. However, make sure to thoroughly clean the carafe and impeller after each use when using liquids other than water, to prevent organic matter build-up.

The saturation in dissolved oxygen will reach about 80% after about 10 minutes of vortexing your water in the Swirl. The longer you leave the unit spinning, the better. Plus it looks great!

Clean the Swirl carafe every 4-5 days with dish soap and warm water (preferably eco-friendly detergent) to prevent anything from accumulating on the impeller (the white disc inside the carafe).

The carafe is made of borosilicate glass and dishwasher safe. However you must always remove the impeller from the carafe before you place it in the dishwasher.

If you notice scale build-up inside the carafe, add one teaspoon of Citric Acid to the carafe and fill it with warm water. Place the carafe on your MAYU Swirl base and let it spin until you see no trace of scale on the carafe walls. Empty the carafe and wash it by hand with soap and warm water and rinse thoroughly.

If you notice that your impeller is stained, add one spoon of bleach to a cup of warm water and place the impeller in the solution overnght. Thoroughly rince the impeller and wash well with soap and water before placing it back inside the carafe.

Did you just set up your Mayu Swirl and realize that it is not creating a vortex? If so, you probably forgot one important step! You need to insert the impeller in the bottom of the carafe. The impeller is the small white disk that is packed carefully in tissue paper and placed atop the pour spout in the shipping tube. 

To unleash the magic of the Swirl, unwrap the tissue paper, remove the pour spout, gently slide the impeller into the water within your carafe, put the spout back on top, and voila, let the swirling begin!

If your Swirl is making a gurgling noise or if the vortex seems crooked, center the carafe on the base and the problem should go away.

The MAYU Swirl is covered by a 2 year manufacturer warranty against maufacturing defects. Please keep your invoice in your records as proof of the date you purchased your Swirl, as it will be required if you need to contact us about a warranty issue.

We understand that accidents happen. Though breaking the carafe isn’t covered under the warranty we do offer the carafe on it’s own so that you don’t have to purchase a whole Swirl. You can get it at:

If your purchase doesn't meet your expectations, please send us an email to info@aquahealthproducts.com within 30 days of receipt and let us know why the Swirl isn't right for you. If the product is returned to us with all components in its original packaging, we will issue a refund minus the shipping and handling cost.
